La serie è stata ulteriormente rinnovata : ecco la notizia positivissima di oggi! Riportata dal sito usatoday
NBC renews 'Law & Order' trio LOS ANGELES (AP) — The verdict is in for Law & Order : television's second longest-running drama will be back for its 17th season in the fall, NBC announced Thursday. The network said it has renewed all three series in the franchise from creator and executive producer Dick Wolf, including Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Law & Order: Criminal Intent.
Law & Order, which stars Sam Waterston, Jesse L. Martin, Dennis Farina and S. Epatha Merkerson, must air for a total of four more seasons to catch up with Gunsmoke.
The CBS Western with James Arness aired from 1955-75.
The original in the Law & Order family has slipped in favor among viewers. Last year, it averaged nearly 13 million weekly viewers; for the season so far, with weaker lead-ins and more competition, it's drawing 11.1 million viewers.
Sibling Special Victims Unit draws a bigger crowd, with an average 13.9 million viewers. The series starring Mariska Hargitay and Christopher Meloni, now in its seventh year, also ranks as NBC's No. 2 drama (behind ER ) among the advertiser-favored young adult audience.
Criminal Intent, which stars Vincent D'Onofrio, Kathryn Erbe, Chris Noth and Annabella Sciorra, is drawing an average 10.9 million viewers in its fifth season.
Overall, NBC is struggling in the ratings and may again repeat its fourth-place showing for the season in both viewers and the young-adult demographic.

"Criminal Intent" compelling, but inconsistent By Randee Dawn Sun Sep 24, 10:56 PM ET LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - A time-slot jump and the loss of three cast members as well as two original executive producers would gut most shows. Yet "Law & Order: Criminal Intent," now in its sixth season, has ably dusted itself off and gotten back to business. Jamey Sheridan, Annabella Sciorra and Courtney Vance are out. Neatly fitted in their spots are Eric Bogosian (Capt. Danny Ross) as a gimlet-eyed micromanager and elfin-faced tomboy Julianne Nicholson (Detective Megan Wheeler), a breath of fresh air. ADA Theresa Randle barely gets screen time, but her straightforward toughness makes her a worthy successor to the underutilized Vance. Every replacement is so immediately appealing that the show rolls along as if it had never been mugged.
Where "CI" is less interesting these days is in its out-of-character camerawork stylizations and a heavier reliance on score. Why ever would "CI" want to be like every other cop show on TV? Meanwhile, the script quality remains inconsistent -- high melodrama for Vincent D'Onofrio's Detective Goren and tired B-stories for Chris Noth's Detective Logan, who deserves better.
Warren Leight and Norberto Barba are at the EP/co-EP helm now, replacing Fred Berner and Rene Balcer.
Still, shake-ups and all, "CI" remains compelling, quirky and systematically satisfying. You can't kill the machine. Other franchises should start taking notes.
il sito contactmusic.com riporta - ed è l'unico a farlo - questa notizia: WEST SIDE STORY star RITA MORENO has signed on to play VINCENT D'ONOFRIO's mother in upcoming episodes of TV drama LAW + ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT.
quindi finalmente incontreremo la mammina malata di Goren
VINCENT D'Onofrio ranks as one of the most intuitive actors of his generation. His skill has never been on greater display than in Law & Order: Criminal Intent, in which he plays the mercurial Det Bobby Goren.
The actor, who has appeared in a string of movies, including The Player, Full Metal Jacket and Men in Black, is renowned for using his intense gaze, body language and timbre of his voice to bring texture to his work.
It could be argued his performance as Goren is his role with the greatest veracity.
In an interview from the set of the Channel 10 drama, D'Onofrio tells how he's relentless in his pursuit of a fully-rounded, multi-dimensional performance.
He also reveals he has big ambitions to work as a director and to find feature film roles that fulfil his deepest artistic yearnings.
These are the reasons, he says in shock news, that he's walking away from Criminal Intent.
"I'm at the age where I'm having a pretty good time in life and I want to do some directing now, stay away from acting just a little while," D'Onofrio explains.
"I haven't sorted the actual departure date out yet, but I won't be there (Criminal Intent) much longer.
"You see, I've never seen myself as a leading man. I want to be a character actor. I don't care if a script is for a five-minute role or a major role, I want to approach things simply. If I like the role, I'll play it.
"So I'm not leaving the show because I have some idea that I want to be a star."
The Criminal Intent team, including creator Dick Wolf and leading lady Kathryn Erbe, has been told of D'Onofrio's plans.
D'Onofrio hoses down suggestions that castmates should be worried about their immediate employment prospects.
He is hopeful the show will "go on forever" without him.
"There might be some who find it hard to imagine the show without me, but it should continue because of the level of talent there," D'Onofrio said.
